Room to Read India Project

Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equity in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, they develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school students, and support girls to complete secondary schools with relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.

Bonnie’s Big Idea is partnering with Room to Read to transform the lives of children in India and to provide them with the quality educational resources they so need and deserve.

Providing much needed resources to under-served communities, this partnership enhances educational opportunities for children living across a number of states in India. Grants from Bonnie’s Big Idea have had a significant impact on thousands of young students in primary and secondary school by building libraries, publishing local language children’s books, and supporting Room to Read’s Literacy Instruction pilot and Girls’ Education program.

“World change starts with educated children.”
